We took Schrute to the baseball game on Saturday morning. He does really well with the kids – until they start jumping around – then he wants to jump around and play.

WEEKEND

Filed under: baby barden, bardenisms, family, marry me,schrute,SWAG,wedding — Danielle at 8:20 am on Monday, April 20, 2009

We went to my parents this weekend – I had a birthday party and four year pictures planned but the party ended up being a problem with photos and releases so we postponed the four year shoot for a few weeks.

Instead – I had a meeting with a wedding client – referred by the one and only Jenna V – who keeps me in business!

I booked the *T* wedding for 12.19.2009! Thanks again!

Jenna also won ANOTHER free photo session for a referral that booked!

I stopped at Peebles and got a few cute tops for weddings for the summer – Peebles is way too expensive but I love the clearance!

Jared finished The Shack and I started it – he loved it and I am still on the fence.

Schrute hung out with Jared and my parents on Saturday while I was meeting and shopping. I snapped these once I got home …

He is such a handsome boy!

I spent most of the weekend crying – I needed to be with my parents and talk to them about what has happened in our lives and why – of course there are no answers – but it was nice to be with them.

We went wedding dress shopping for my sister – she is getting married 9.12.2009 – mostly because it is the only fall date I have open other than Labor Day – but I will post those in a separate entry …

SCHRUTE

Schrute is doing great – nearing 50 lbs. and eating to match! We are so blessed to have him in our life for such a moment as this. It is so nice to be able to come home to his unconditional love.

The crazy thing about Schrute is that he is for sure our pet. Jared and I are both anxious people. Schrute is an anxious puppy for sure. Even as I sit here and type this – he has a paw resting on my arm – so that he is not too far away from me. He loves to be near me – since the miscarriage – he feels that he has to be near me. He sleeps with his head right near my stomach – never leaving my side.

I am so excited to be able to spend more time with him once Wednesday rolls around – long walks here we come!

Schrute has been awesome  this past week – he had a few accidents in the house but we figured out that the problem is holding it. When I come home on an early lunch – I can catch him before he goes. When we are home – he is awesome. He is still a little skittish with new people and my dad – but I am hoping that obedience training will help.

I took a few shots of him the other day …

OBEDIENCE

Filed under: schrute — Danielle at 8:10 am on Sunday, March 1, 2009

Yesterday we had an obedience consult with Cynthia Knowlton. She comes higly recommended by everyone we have talked with. Jared’s parents came along since they are a large part of Schrute’s life too.

She was a little concerned with how skinny he is – and thought maybe the food was the cause of all the messes – because he is great in letting us know that he has to go out while we are home. We bought some different food to mix in with what he has to see if we can get some meat on him. She talked about discipline – no yelling – firm steady voice – and when they do what you are asking you praise them in a high excited voice and always reward. He pretty much has the sit command mastered – and she worked with us on lie down – come – stay – he did really well with her!

She recommended that we don’t let him put his paws up on us – whether you are sitting or standing – he is stil jumping up – and you don’t want to teach him to do that – especially a dog his size. She gave us some tips on biting – he doesn’t really bite – just nip and test you out with his mouth – which is natural for a puppy. She said to clamp his mouth shut and tell him no – then hold your hand out and ask for kisses so that he can do something with his mouth.

She said that you want to teach your dog to sit when they meet a new person – not jump up – he is still a little jumpy and unsure of new people – she said to socialize him as much as possible.

The thing I have to work on is yelling – I tend to yell – I think I always have looking back on it – so it is great practice for kids for me.

We signed him up for the 8 week class starting in April – Tuesday nights from 6.15 to 7.15 …

She works on the sit – come – lie down – stay commands and basic control.

We were there for an hour yesterday and went home with our money’s worth – I think!

Once we got home – Mary and Chai met us for a play date. Schrute has hung out with other dogs and done well – and maybe I am imagining it – but I think he was PRETTY excited to see Chai!

Chai was such a good sport putting up with Schrute and his puppy energy!

We thought taking a walk might be good for them – but was WAY TOO COLD for us!

Chai knows how to walk on a leash really well – Schrute could take some pointers from him!

FRIENDS

Friday night we went to Sunbury to hang out with our friends – the Herbsters. They have a Schnoodle – a cross between a Schnauzer and Poodle – named Bear. Amy didn’t know if Bear would do well with another dog in the house – but he did great! They were a little curious at first but then started playing like champs!

*A* loved Schrute -

SCHRUTE

Monday morning we woke up to quite the scene in Schrute’s room – in the night he had torn apart his chew toy and made quite the mess of his crate – we assumed that he couldn’t hold it during the night. Needless to say – Jared ended up on his hands and knees scrubbing down the tray before he went to work – since I had to work at 7 that morning. Coming home at lunch – I found the same scene – only worse. He had thrown his mess everywhere – in all the little crevices of the crate – I cried and cried – calling Jared and unloading – which I tend to do. Once Jared got home he took the crate to the car wash with his dad – it was the only way to get it clean!

Tuesday afternoon I was home with him all afternoon – so we didn’t have another incident – until Wednesday morning when Jared’s mom came over to check oh him and found the same mess. I cam home at lunch – changed into different clothes – started the scrubbing – tried to use snow to help – crying the entire time – giving myself quite the headache. Jared’s mom was over – the poor woman – not knowing how to deal with me and my bundle of anger and crying and sobbing.

(I tend to lean more toward the dramatic if you haven’t noticed).

We are going to get a smaller crate – since that is what everyone recommends – and try that – I think that he is just mad that we are leaving him alone!

Today when I came home for lunch – he was fine – when I got home from work tonight – he was fine. I put a bowl with some ice in his crate – hoping that is what helps. I feel bad for the little guy – being all alone after being with his brothers and sisters for so long!

He is sleeping on out bedroom on his dog bed on the floor – and it’s working out GREAT – there are a few times a night we have to wake up and tell him no and take him out – but we would much rather that option than waking up to a mess!

I am trying to control my emotions better – I never thought I had much of a temper – but I am finding this out the hard way – along with Jared – bless his heart!

It is amazing to me that when I am being a jerk and cannot stand myself – Jared still loves me – even though he might not be happy with me at the moment – he still loves me and makes me want to be a better person!

That being said – here are the updated pictures of Schrute -

Other than the messy episodes – he is a PERFECT puppy! We have given him 3 baths since Monday due to his little tantrums! He isn’t too fond of the baths but he does well enough! That little spot on his nose is a cut from trying to get out of his crate during his mess on Monday! We love him dearly and I know his grandparents love him just as much! Jared and I weighed him unofficially and he is about 18 lbs. We have another vet appt. Tuesday so we will find out then!
