ELIZABETH & CHRIS – ALMOST A YEAR

Filed under: just because, love, portraits — admin at 11:03 am on Tuesday, May 3, 2011

I photographed Elizabeth & Chris at their wedding last June! They had booked with me at the ARNOT MALL BRIDAL EXPO in 2010 and received 2 gift certificates!

We had a session scheduled a few months ago and had to reschedule due to rain – surprise! This session was scheduled when the weather was calling for severe thunderstorms – so we made it a few hours earlier and missed the storm!

I LOVE that one!!

Thanks so much for making the trip to Mansfield guys! Can’t wait to see you for our next session!!

FITZGERALD – SON OF A SPEAR WARRIOR

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

That is the “verse” we have chosen for Fitzgerald as his life verse!

We are so excited to raise this little baby with God’s direction!

I don’t even know what the prize might be – but I want to run a contest about Fitzy’s birth!

Make sure to comment on this blog post with your guess on his birthday – the time – his weight – his length!

I’m not sure if there will be one winner or four!

THIS CONTEST ENDS APRIL 24th – which marks 38 weeks!

More than anything – I am so excited to see his little face!!!!

When we had our AMAZING session with Rachel Absher in November – I though for sure I would be ordering a canvas print from her – but her collages were so tempting!

I dropped off our print at The Hidden Artist in Troy a few weeks ago to have it matted & framed – and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!

Thank you again Rachel for our BEAUTIFUL photos! Thank you Steve for the AMAZING matting & framing job!

. BRAND NEW .

. BRAND NEW .

For me – there is nothing like a brand new baby! All I have ever wanted to be is a momma – and that is finally happening! I have been watching Bringing Home Baby and A Baby Story like it’s my job lately – which has just stirred my passion for photography more and more!

When I think about that moment when our child enters the world – I start to panic. Not for the reasons that you would normally think though! The photographer in me thinks about all the moments that I want captured on film forever that I won’t be able to get! I am so thankful for a fellow photographer who will be with us during those moments – to capture what I can’t.

Just like the . BECOMING YOU WHO ARE . sessions – I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and want to be able to capture those moments for the families that want them! It’s something that I would have always offered but never really advertised. Lots of women would prefer that the camera is very far away during those moments – and there are those that want nothing more than to have it all on film! Make sure to clear the session with your hospital and doctor – some places won’t allow it!

The thing about . BRAND NEW . sessions is that they are unexpected – for the most part! You never know when labor will hit – whether 3 AM or 3 PM!

I haven’t done a birth session yet – but am looking forward to it so much!

These shots are of a miracle and her momma! She isn’t even 24 hours old in these photos – such a precious time to be able to capture! I love stopping by the hospital to see friends with their new babies – and of course I have to bring my camera!

. BRAND NEW .

Since I haven’t done a . BRAND NEW . session yet – the first one to book will receive a 30 page album of the experience!

Thank you again to all of you that support me. pray for me. encourage me. love me.

. BRAND NEW . BECOMING WHO YOU ARE . BE YOURSELF . for all those moments in your life!

DEAR ENOCH

Filed under: baby barden, bardenisms, just because, love — admin at 11:10 am on Friday, February 4, 2011

Dear Enoch –

Today is February 4th – two years ago today we found out we were pregnant with you! We were surprised and excited and nervous and scared!

You are 16 months old in heaven – walking and chattering and laughing and playing with your cousin – who is a year older than you and is probably being the mother hen that I used to be!

We miss you every day and often wonder what you look like – if you would be talking – who you would be charming!

As I sit here and type this little letter to you – your younger brother is kicking me – letting me know that he’s in there. God knew that Fitzy would be your little brother – He knew that he would be in our lives at this exact moment. We know that you are in heaven rejoicing with us right now!

I wanted to let you know that you are still in our hearts and always will be. I look forward to meeting your little brother and wondering what traits you share. Do you have the same eyes – the same color hair – the same little smile? Will he be chubbier than you?

People say that pregnancies last forever – or seem to. The 10 weeks we spent with you on this earth seemed so long – the 18 months of wondering and waiting and praying and crying lasted years – or so it seemed! Being pregnant with your baby brother has flown by though!

We are thankful for the night we had two years ago – learning that we would be your parents – remembering the joy we felt!

We are thankful that we ARE your parents – thankful that you are in the arms of Jesus!

Thank you for what you have shown us – thank you for changing our lives – forever!

The Birth of Jesus – Luke 2:1-20

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Can you imagine being those shepherds? Just sitting there watching your sheep at night – making sure nothing attacks – making sure they are all there – and then – AN ANGEL APPEARS! The angel tells them that a Savior is born – the Messiah – the Lord! More angels come and sing and exalt God! Then the shepherds look at each other and say – let’s go check this out!

I love this account telling of the shepherds – I just cannot put myself in their shoes! They find Mary and Joseph and Jesus – did they ask to hold Him – did they kiss His tender little head – did they give Him back to Mary when he started crying? Did those shepherds tell their own grandchildren that they once held the Savior of the world as a baby – that THEY were the messengers of God to spread the good news?

Today – as Fitzy jumps around in my tummy – I am humbled that God would let me borrow him for a while – that God trusts us with His precious creation. I am wondering what exactly Mary was thinking – was she concerned with the fact that He was indeed the Savior of the world or more so that He would sleep through the night?

Thank You God for giving Your Son – Jesus. Thank you Mary for being a wonderful momma to our Lord. Thank you Joseph for loving your Son and His mother. Thank you shepherds for being in that field that night!
